Common Vetch - nitrogen-fixing leguminous plant in the family Fabaceae.
Medium-early and very productive fodder and green manure crop that builds up green mass in 70 days.
The popularity of vetch is due to the fact that it is grown for feed with high-quality characteristics:
1 centner of vetch hay is equivalent to 46 feed units (and each feed unit contains 123 grams of protein).
The yield of green mass of the crop can reach 400 c/ha, and the yield of hay vetch reaches up to 80 c/ha.
Vika can be grown in mixed crops with cabbage, oats and peas.
A feature of the cultivation of spring vetch for green fodder and hay is the sowing of crops in a busy fallow.
Mixed crops of oats and vetch are used to obtain additional fodder in the form of intermediate crops, during the completion of the harvest of winter and early cereals, the purpose of which is to obtain grain. And also after pea and vetch mixes intended for green fodder, early potatoes and winter rye.
As a fallow crop, a mixture of winter vetch with winter rye or winter wheat is sown.
